Excellence in Training
ENCORE Competition Team
ENCORE's renowned Competition Team is for dancers who “live, eat, drink, and breathe” dance; who regard dance as their most important extra-curricular activity.
If you are a dancer ages 4-18, who is heavily involved in sports or cheer-leading (and/or many other activities) then our competition teams would not be right for you. It would be better for you to be in a regular dance class where you could enjoy performing without the commitment that a performance team requires.
Our competition dance teams are chosen by audition. We hold auditions in the spring. Our competitive teams dance consistently from September to August
Our goal is to develop technically strong, well rounded, confident dancers and performers. Team dancers are trained in the disciplines of Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tumbling, Leaps and Turns, Contemporary, and Lyrical. We have an amazing staff of professional teachers who are phenomenal at motivating, training, and encouraging dancers of any age. We also encourage our dancers to furthur their educations outside of regular classes at conventions and master classes around the country.
We believe that members of our competition teams not only grow as dancers but also grow as individuals. We spend a great deal of time on team building, leadership building and goal setting. We feel that learning how to cooperate on a team is a lifelong skill that we hold as the highest importance of being on our teams.
Teams are for ages 4 & up and are on an audition basis. Dancers compete from the local to the National level. All team members are required to attend mandatory weekly classes such as ballet, contemporary, jazz and hip hop as well as weekend rehearsals. Members are required to perform in the Annual Christmas show, Competition Showcase, and Annual recital. The competition team must dedicate themselves to the entire season in order to be apart of the team.
The Encore Competition Showcase
The annual Encore Competition Showcase kicks off the competition season by giving the team an opportunity to perform their routines in front of a live audience. The event is held at ACCC’s theater under show conditions, with theatrical lighting, sound and even professional video. It also gives families and friends the opportunity to see the results of all the hard work put in by both the team and the teachers in a more relaxed environment than the actual competitions.
Large group, small group, trios, duos, and solo numbers are all performed in order to break in costumes, props, etc., as well run through staging issues and challenges. Even the teachers perform a group number every year. The event is open to the public and tickets are available at Encore. Check the event calendar for details.
